#2019InACMX: best of the year (so far)

Halfway through 2019 we can show off a lot of new music, as well as artists from different parts of the world. Singles, remixes, EPs and albums have passed non-stop and in the Arts & Crafts Mexico family we want to recap the most important releases so far, so that you don’t miss a single song. This is # 2019 in ACMX.

BETTY WHO – Betty

This Australian seeks to take self-love to a new level with her pop songs. Betty is a talented multi-instrumentalist, however, her only goal is to make you dance with tracks that radiate honesty, good vibes and optimism. Learn more HERE.

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE – Let’s Try The After

Canadian collective celebrates life in all its complexities with two new EPs. This emotional series demonstrates Broken Social Scene’s desire to create new music and celebrate that they can continue, together with their audience, in the fractured world in which we live in. Learn more about Vol. 1 HERE and Vol. 2 HERE.

CAPYAC – Baby Make Money

The duo continues to expand by electronics, nudisco, jazz and improvisation. CAPYAC only intends to give us good music so that we can dance and achieves it thanks to its polished production and funk-filled guitars. Learn more HERE.

THE DRUMS – Brutalism

The Drums’ fifth album is defined by growth, transformation and questions, but does not provide all the answers. Brutalism is rooted in an emotional rawness but its layers are soft, intricate and warm, full of frivolous and exquisitely crafted pop songs that blast sunlight and high energy in the face of anxiety, solitude and crippling self-doubt. Learn more HERE.

HERMITUDE – “Every Day (feat. Hoodlem) – [Mexican Institute of Sound Remix]”

Mexican Institute of Sound’s Camilo Lara seeks to erase borders and put his grain of sand to make a global dance floor. This time he delivers a remix to the Australian electronics duo with all his Latin flavor. Learn more HERE.

SAID THE WHALE – Cascadia

After 12 years, Vancouver’s trio has reached the purest version of themselves. Cascadia is their sixth album and sounds like quintessential Said The Whale: a blend of big-hearted indie rock and atmospheric folk. Learn more HERE.

REY PILA – “Disciples IV”

The band’s second single this year is based on synthesizers and drum machines. It also has a much more danceable DNA and is inspired by horror / pop movies that Rey Pila likes so much. Its infectious rhythm will drive you crazy and you won’t want to stop. Learn more HERE.

TIM BAKER – Forever Overhead

Frontman and main composer of the Canadian band Hey Rosetta! started a new solo adventure in Forever Overhead. Piano ballads, pop grooves and lush folk-rock are magnified thanks to Baker’s vibrant lyricism. Learn more HERE.

TORO Y MOI – Outer Peace

In this record there are contemporary hip hop references mixed in with funk, Eurodance and ambient elements, all interwoven expertly and retaining that quintessential Toro Y Moi aesthetic.
